Lucban, Quezon, Philippines
Grade school students were treated to a fun event filled with games, song and dance numbers, and other surprises. Representatives from Chemrez and PCA also prepared “arroz caldo” (rice porridge) and “puto” (rice cake) for the children. The event also marked the PCA-Region IV-A’s first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at reaching out and giving back to its community of coconut farmers in the region.
The activity also paved the way for the Lucban Farmers Association (LFA) members, whose children were students at Piis Elementary, to learn of the wide applications of their coconut produce. Chemrez Sales and Marketing Director Leo Tapia stressed their vital role in helping not just their communities but the country’s economy as well. He noted that, from the humble coconut which the farmers grow and harvest in their own soil, Chemrez is able to continue in its mission of enriching the lives of many by creating sustainable and innovative products that are exported worldwide.
