Pasay City, Philippines—Chemrez Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of MCT oil, oleochemicals, and other coconut-derived products marketed in the Philippines and in other countries, joined the 1st World Coconut Congress (WCC) 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
Spearheaded by the United Coconut Association of the Philippines (UCAP) in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB).), the event held last August was part of the National Coconut Week celebration.
Highlights of the congress included a trade fair, exhibits, a cooking festival with coconut as main ingredient, a coconut-inspired fashion show, talks on health benefits, and fora on business opportunities and coconut oil breakthroughs.
Industry experts shared their knowledge during the event, among them were Uron Salum, executive director of Asian & Pacific Coconut Community; Dr. Julian McGill, head of LMC International Southeast Asia; Dr. Ivan Idrovo, CEO of Strategic Development Cooperation Asia; Dr. Fabian Dayrit, chemistry professor at the Ateneo de Manila University; Jesus Arranza, president of Coconut Oil Refiners Association; Marco Reyes, president of the Virgin Coconut Oil Producers and Traders Association of the Philippines; and Senen M. Perlada, DTI-EMB director.
Dr. Bruce and Leslie Fife, certified nutritionist, naturopathic physician and author of “Ketone Therapy” and “The Coconut Oil Miracle”, as well as Dr. Mary Newport, international speaker on ketones as an alternative fuel for the brain and author of “Alzheimer’s Disease: What If There Was A Cure?”, were present during the congress.
Buyers from Australia, France, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico and the United Kingdom were present. Also attending WCC were UCAP Chairman Dean Lao, Jr., Department of Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, and PCA Administrator Romulo dela Rosa.
