In the early 80s, the Philippines was in the throes of crisis. Political instability led to worsening economic conditions, and the country and the people reeled under the burdens of declining purchasing power, crushing inflation, and debilitating poverty.

Against this backdrop, along Calle Industria in Bagumbayan, Dean & Leon Lao went ahead and built a new resin plant, producing polystyrene, emulsions, unsaturated polyesters, etc. Amidst the chaos and the gloom which preceded the EDSA revolution, the brothers just knew that a construction boom was coming, and were preparing for the turnaround.

Chemrez Technologies, Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)-Quezon 1 office, held an outreach activity last December 2018 at the Piis Elementary School with the theme “Share the Love to Bring Joy”.

Chemrez showcased its natural ingredients derived from sustainable coconut oil that are used widely in soaps, shampoos, cosmetics, detergents, and dishwashing liquids. These include eco-friendly coconut surfactants, emollients, and sulfate-free and petroleum-free bases that are all readily biodegradable.

Units of listed chemical firm D&L Industries Inc. (DNL) said they will lead the way toward what they called “green chemistry,” mainly tapping coconut oil, which is called the healthiest oil in the world.
